Papermaster opened the show to a packed audience, with standing room only, to talk about “the next AI era: trusted systems, sovereign infrastructure, and the developers building them”. EE Times was given the opportunity to sit down with him straight after his opening today (Oct. 7) to discuss some of the key industry news and trends.
In our discussion, he talked about the importance of holistic design and heterogeneity to meet the insatiable need for AI compute; the evolution of chiplets, from when the concept was first commercialized by AMD to where we are now and what comes next; and, more importantly, how chiplets enable tailored products for compute. He talked specifically about the trend toward domain-specific tailored computing. Then, with AI everywhere, we also discussed how AI can improve efficiency and what will drive innovation, including the importance of open standards.
